Where Is It?
It is currently backstage, in the workshop, specifically in the wood store area.
Where Is The Remote Control Kept?
The remote control is kept either near to the projector during rehearsals and shows or in the small "manuals" drawer nearby.
What Is It Best Used For?
Since the image produced is large, it works best when displaying hi-resolution imagery. It has so far been used to display PowerPoint presentation for guest speakers, live video footage of on-stage musicians and backing visualisations for bands.
For information, we currently use
- GIMP for editing and manipulating still images;
- Openshot for editing video;
- Irfanview for displaying images;
- VLC for displaying video or video and still images together.
We also use LibreOffice/Impress (which is an open source equivalent to Office/PowerPoint.
Currently all presentations are created and run from a laptop running Windows 10.1 but I can see a day when it'll be useful to add the Linux OS to it as well.
Visiting bands will often use Q-Lab which runs on Apple Macbooks.
Which Screen To Use
It should, and can only be, used for projecting onto either the fixed, motorised rear projection screen or any smaller portable screen made from the same fabric.
Where To Operate It From
It can be operated from three different positions, depending on the requirements:
Position | Advantages | Disadvantages | Useful For | Extra Equipment Needed |
